John Denver became a star thanks to the folk songs he composed, the majority of which are situated in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a New Mexican born musician and singer who fell in love with Colorado. Many people traveled to Colorado after hearing Denver's popular songs for his home state. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the hall's curator of fame, said: "I don't believe there is another performer that embodies Colorado in the same way as John Denver." Denver was the first Hall of Fame to be inducted into the hall. Today, he is Colorado's international image. In my travels I've had the pleasure of meeting people from New Zealand or the other side. If you inform people you're from Colorado the first words they'll say is Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's top 10 singles after performing with small folk music bands. The song was written and performed by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the song to Johnny Cash but Denver recognized the potential of the single the moment he heard it for the first time. Just a few days after the performance to a throng of fans in Washington D.C., the performer recorded the track.
